In 1800, next to the CAPOCU farm, another farm called RIO GRANDE, or GRANDE RIO, because it developed on the banks of the Igua\u00e7u River.<\/p>\n<p>These two villages, originated by the two farms, became known as Fazenda Rio Grande, which, together with other towns in this region, on July 25, 1960, were dismembered from S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Pinhais, forming the Municipality of Mandirituba. In 1981, through Law 7521, published in the Official State Agency N\u00ba 1.171, on November 17, 1981, signed by the then Governor Ney Braga, Fazenda Rio Grande became the Administrative District of the Municipality of Mandirituba. The emancipation of Fazenda Rio Grande is due to a specific socioeconomic context, which is linked to the growth of Greater Curitiba at the end of the 70s.<\/p>\n<p>From 1975 onwards, with almost eradicating coffee production in the Northern Region of Paran\u00e1, there was a great movement of rural exodus in the State, attracting many people to the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The Municipality of Fazenda Rio Grande began to become a reality on September 15, 1989, through Bill No. 229\/89, authored by State Deputy An\u00edbal Khury.<\/p>\n<p>On January 26, 1990, through State Law n\u00ba 9.213, sanctioned by the then Governor \u00c1lvaro Fernandes Dias, in the premises of Churrascaria 22, in the presence of more than three thousand witnesses, the Municipality of Fazenda Rio Grande was created. Today Fazenda Rio Grande is characterized by being one of the fastest-growing Brazilian municipalities, with a population growth of around 10% per year, being the seat of the Comarca since 1999.
